W/B 7.9.21
This week we are looking at forming the letter 'c'.
We will begin with CVC words:   c a t    c a p   c a n    c o b   cow
'C' is a round and back letter.

The table below shows how we structure handwriting, in Year 1. Beginning with 'round and back' letters, working through to 'up and down' and finally moving to 'tricky ones'. We will also use the given name e.g. up and down, to describe the set of letters. The following rules will also be taught to the children:

- Capital letters do not join to lower case
- Capital letters start high up
- The letter 'x' does not join fluently
- There is no join between two zs in a word (e.g. buzz)
- The letter 'z' can be joined to another word (e.g. freeze)
